Placebo mod 8.6.0

Placebo 8.6.0 is a Forge 1.20.1 release from November 2023, the first of the 8.6 line. It was followed by 8.6.1, 8.6.2 and 8.6.3. Only use 8.6.0 if a modpack pins that exact version.

Forge builds exist for these Minecraft versions:

• 1.20.1 — Placebo 8.6.3
• 1.19.2 — Placebo 7.4.1
• 1.18.2 — Placebo 6.6.7
• 1.16.5 — Placebo 4.7.1
• 1.12.2 — Placebo 1.6.1

From Minecraft 1.21.1 onward, Placebo is released for NeoForge (9.9.3 for 1.21.1, 10.0.2 for 26.1.2).

Placebo mod Fabric

There's no Fabric version of Placebo. It supports Forge and NeoForge only. If you play on Fabric, look for Fabric-native alternatives to the mods that need Placebo.

Placebo mod Bedrock

Bedrock Edition and Minecraft PE can't run Java mods, so there is no Placebo for Bedrock. Any download claiming to be one isn't the real mod.

Troubleshooting

• “Missing dependency: placebo” — add the Placebo build for your version.
• “Placebo version too old” — download a newer Placebo for the same Minecraft version.
• Crash on launch — check you didn't mix Forge and NeoForge builds.
• Two Placebo files — keep only one in the mods folder.
